MSI Hellas in association with Plymouth University is delighted to announce a series of continuing development courses aiming to provide knowledge and expertise to individuals who seek to improve their educational skills.

The first course will be the “Port Facility Security Officer” which will be held in the Yacht Club of Greece (NOE) on March 27-29, 2017.

This course aims to provide the students with the conceptual tools to understand how they can best perform their duties as security officers in main or auxiliary port facilities. 

Students will develop their knowledge and skills from Plymouth University teaching staff with vast experience in ISPS implementation. 

Students will obtain a good honors certificate from Plymouth University recognized all over the world.

The International Ship and Port-Facility Security (ISPS) Code specifies that the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) is responsible for the development, implementation, revision, and maintenance of the Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP).

The PFSP outlines the required measures to prevent the unauthorized access of people, weapons and contraband into port, and provide for a safe and sterile working environment for international shipping operators.

 

Plymouth University’s PFSO course follows the framework of the ISPS Code, and is approved by the Department for Transport. On completion of this course students will be able to:

  •   Execute the PFSO responsibilities in accordance with the ISPS Code and national requirements
  •   Manage and revise port facility security plans coordinate effective search plans and security operations
  •   Understand the ISPS code 2004 security levels and implement actions accordingly
  •   Develop, maintain and review port facility access control
  •   Conduct port security assessments and threat analyses.The course is designed for any security officer with overall responsibility for port security under Department for Transport guidelines.

All participants who attend all sessions and participate in all simulations
will receive an official Certificate of Completion for the course from Plymouth University. The course will be delivered by staff from DCSS.

Plymouth University became the principal provider of academic services to the Royal Navy at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, in July 2008.
